  • Saint Nicholas Square, one of the largest squares in France, houses three monuments: the statue of Napoleon as Roman Emperor, a historic monument created by the sculptor Lorenzo Bartolini, the War Memorial (a bronze statue of a Corsican mother giving her third child to the motherland), and nearby, the submarine Casabianca. It distinguished itself by participating in the Second World War.

Cap Corse

Bastia is a 50-minute drive from Macinaggio, the pretty marina of Cap Corse where the Sentier des douaniers (trail) begins. This walk is of rare beauty, where you'll discover sumptuous landscapes. Cap Corse has managed to preserve the island's wild side. This hike takes you to Barcaggio in 3.5 hours, and also to Centuri in 8 hours. If you'd like to visit the Cap without walking too much, there's a boat trip from April to October, departing from the port of Macinaggio, which will take you there to explore the coastline.

The Nebbiu region

The Nebbiu region is also a gem. You can reach it by car in 20 minutes from Bastia. This region includes Patrimonio, a favorite village among wine lovers, with around thirty AOC Patrimonio estates and a Baroque church, a listed historic monument. Every summer, the Guitar Nights Festival takes place in Patrimonio. In this region, we find Saint Florent, the little Corsican Saint Tropez, as some call it. Its marina is magnificent, a citadel built in 1440. This place hosts the Latino Port Festival every summer, a Latin music festival where celebrations are the order of the day. From Saint Florent, you can visit Saleccia Beach and Lodu Beach, two of the most beautiful beaches on the island, located in the Agriates Desert, where the water is an exceptional turquoise blue.
